Think About the Light It Casts
A coloured shade doesn't just look different — it lights differently. Coloured glass or ceramic will tint the light it emits, washing the surrounding surfaces in a subtle hue. This is one of the most underused effects in residential interiors: the fixture as a mood-setter, not just a light source.
An amber glass pendant over a dining table casts a warmth that no bulb temperature alone can replicate. A deep green ceramic shade throws a pool of focused, intimate light. The material is part of the effect.
